Julian’s Ride

July 22, 2008

My son and I took a quick ride on the Juniper Trail this morning. Having just been cut, the trail was mighty soft. More tires and some much needed rain should firm things up.

Our First Dig Day

July 20, 2008

A big thank you to everyone who made it out to our first dig day. In a couple of short hours we were able to nearly complete a rough cut of the Juniper Trail. Hopefully those who came out have caught the trail building bug. It sounds crazy, but I’m to the point that I often choose trail building over riding. If your priorities are out of wack like mine, please feel free to come out and dig whenever you like. The Juniper Trail is marked with green flags, with connector trails in pink. You can have at it whenever you have the time and energy. If you don’t want to blaze a new section you can always work on smoothing out the rough cut. Please keep track and let me know how much time you put in as we would like to inform the city and HOA of the total volunteer hours. We are also planning on rewarding volunteers for their efforts with official bike park T-shirts, raffles, and other goodies. I will be posting each volunteer and his or her hours here on the blog. Also, I will let you know when the McLeod tools arrive. This tool is ideal for cutting and shaping trail.

Hopefully the excavator will make it out this week to cut the advanced and beginner slopestyle trails. I must say that I am very excited about the beginner trail. After flagging it with Darin we both realized that this trail will be a bike park favorite regardless of ability level. Once the bulldozer completes the rough cut, then the dirt will be delivered and we can begin placing and shaping.

Thanks again to everyone who came out and helped yesterday. Stay tuned for the next official dig day.
